The idea to develop the Lecht Ski Centre was started by James McIntosh, who learnt to ski many years ago at The Lecht with a tractor tow. Meeting up with Pieter du Pon (ex British Ski Team) during their combined time in the Fleet Air Arm a plan was hatched to develop the Lecht. The Lecht Ski Centre is situated on the infamous A939 road Cockbridge to Tomintoul road on the eastern side of the Cairngorms in Strathdon. This ski centre has been operating since the mid 1970s starting small with 1 poma ski tow, it has grown to a year round highland activity centre.
The Lecht Ski Centre is aimed at all levels of skier and is ideal for all the family, intermediate and beginner skiers. From using a magic carpet (the only one in the Cairngorms) lift for your first lesson, so that you don't have to climb uphill at all to a black run that is used for slalom racing for all levels.
