Glenshee Ski Centre is the largest ski & snowboard resort in Scotland and is sometimes referred to as Scotland's three valleys. It is located in the south east of the Cairngorms National Park, on the A93 road between Spittal of Glenshee and Braemar in the southern Highlands of Scotland. With 21 lifts, 36 runs and some snowmaking capabilities it is the UK's largest snow sports resort in Scotland.
Glenshee runs along the side of the highest public road in Scotland which runs through the Cairnwell pass, formerly one of the main historic drove routes through the Cairngorms. Skiing began in the late thirties when a few skiing enthusiasts who had learned to ski in Europe, came here to practice their new-found sport. Following the war, some of them returned to build simple rope tows, driven off the rear wheel of tractors and in 1957, Dundee Ski Club built the first T-Bar tow on Meall Odhar. Later, Glenshee Ski Resort became the first to embrace snowboarding and hosted many of the early day snowboard comps in the late 80's early 90's.

The resort covers 790 hectares and has a total 36 piste runs, 8 Greens, 13 Blues, 13 Reds and 2 Blacks which totals over 40km of pisted runs. It has 21 operational lifts, 2 of which are chairlifts, 3 T-bar lifts, and the remaining 16 are Button lifts, mostly of the Poma type. Planning permission for an additional chairlift was granted in June 2010. Experienced skiers and snow boarders, are able to test their skills on two excellent black runs at Glenshee including the infamous, mogul strewn Tiger which has been a formidable part of the Scottish ski experience for years. Mountain bikers also have access to the lifts in the summer months.
From invitingly easy to the surprisingly steep, Glenshee ski and snowboard resort offers the most extensive skiing and snowboarding in Scotland. On arrival parking is available near the foot of the Cairnwell Chairlift. Here you will also find the ticket office and the Base Cafe - an ideal meeting place. It is also a great favourite with beginners as it is situated near the nursery slopes. Next to the Base Cafe is the shop, which sells a variety of skiing and boarding accessories as well as providing a ski suit hire service for adults and children. There is often a snowboard park and race gates and timing system that can be used by the pubic.
