The Mill @ Balneden Steading - Location Map
Description
Balneden is the ideal location for a self-catering holiday in the Scottish Highlands. Converted in 2009 by two self-catering enthusiasts, there are three newly-renovated cottages to rent. Perfectly located at the start of the Whisky and Castle Trail, one mile from the A939 Highland Tourist Route between Grantown-on-Spey and Tomintoul, we are situated in the stunning Glenlivet Estate, within the Cairngorms National Park. We are just 30 minutes drive away from activity-filled Aviemore, yet also just 45 minutes drive from the wildlife of the Moray Firth The breathtaking panoramic views from Balneden (see above) are stunning and make Balneden the perfect place to unwind and enjoy Highland life. The cottages themselves are renovated and furnished to a very high standard, and as seasoned self-catering holiday makers we hope to have thought of everything to make your stay in The Highlands as magical as possible. To get your holiday off to the perfect start, we can even take delivery of your shopping order and have it in your cottage prior waiting for you when you arrive. The first records of Balneden being used as a farm date back to the 1740's. In those days the hill upon which Balneden (gaelic meaning 'farm on the hillside') stands was a thriving local market. The market remained on the hill for many years until a ferocious argument over cheese resulted in the market being moved. Well-behaved pets by prior arrangement with owner
