Otter Pool Lodge - Location Map
Description
Otter Pool Lodge is an outstanding example of a restoration project of a 19th Century Sleeper Cottage (These Lodges became very popular in the Highlands with the arrival of the Railway in the 1880's). It has retained its rustic charm on the outside with many original features, yet the amazing internal transformation has to be experienced to be believed.
Otter Pool Lodge is approached through a mature pine wood and across open Crofting Farmland. As you approach the Lodge from the rear the first impression may be of a rather understated and unremarkable property - Do not be fooled!! As you walk from the parking area around to the front entrance of the Cottage be prepared for a massive "Wow Factor" experience, as the outstanding location and uninterrupted views of the River Spey and Cairngorm Mountains come in to view.
You enter the Lodge over the large decked area, where the Barbeque is located. Just a perfect place for Al Fresco dining or to relax with a "Sundowner" and listen to the sights and sounds of nature, perhaps seeing an Osprey fishing on the River,or the moon rise over the Mountains.
The entire Lodge is a sensory experience. The transformation of the Lodge has married contemporary Boutique styling with a rustic and cosy atmosphere. The whole effect is so unique and unusual. The pine-clad lounge with conservatory has uninterrupted river and mountain views through the large south facing picture window, a cosy Log stove and leather seats that just swallow you up. It is a place to sit and enjoy whatever the weather throws up. Imagine watching a winter snowfall rolling over the mountains whilst sitting in front of a crackling log stove, with a "Wee Dram" beside the one you love. There is of course, installed in the lounge a flat screen digital TV, with basic Sky package and MP3 dock.
