Coylumbridge is situated in what is arguably one of the most beautiful places in the country. Activities are varied and include walking, cycling, golf, skiing, wildlife painting, fishing, archery, clay pigeon shooting, sailing and canoeing. Rothiemurchus Forest is a remnant of the Caledonian Forest near Aviemore. The forest is popular for recreation, but contains some of the most important wildlife in Europe, including the osprey, Scottish crossbill, capercaillie, crested tit and wild cat. Rothiemurchus Estate forms one of the most treasured areas of the Cairngorms National Park.

For the sports enthusiast, Coylumbridge & Rothiemurchus spoils you for choice. There's hill walking and snow sports on the famous CairnGorm, and fishing on the River Spey and at Loch Morlich. Said to have the finest beach in the Cairngorms, the loch itself is home to a water-sports centre offering windsurfing, canoeing, kayaking and sailing among many other activities. The Rothiemurchus Estate surrounding Coylumbridge is also known for its fantastic woodland trails - a paradise for walkers, cyclists, pony trekkers and quad-bikers. It also boasts a top quality clay pigeon shoot and trout fishery.

The Woodshed Bar is a great après ski bar with a relaxed atmosphere and a real log fire. The kitchen serves superb nachos. The Ord Ban, formerly the senior classroom of the old school house, with its high pitched ceiling, pine floors and wood burning stove in Rothiemurchus, is great for lunch or an evening meal. Located across the parking area is a great Chinese restaurant called the Tea Garden. Just down the road, below the Spey Bridge, is the Old Bridge Inn that offers all day food in a cosy country pub environment. There are no golf courses in Coylumbridge & Rothiemurchus but there is indoor crazy golf at the Hilton Funhouse, which is great for the kids on a rainy day. This allows you to tackle the courses at Abernethy, Boat of Garten, Carrbridge, Craggan, Grantown-on-Spey, Kingussie, Newtonmore and the superb new Spey Valley Championship Course in Aviemore.

Voted one of Britain's top ten cake shops, the Potting Shed Cake Shop and daily bird feeding viewing area at Inshriach Nursery  are a must for any wildlife and cake lover. Another great place for food and wildlife watching is the Glenmore cafe, as seen on the BBC's Autumn Watch. A daily guided hill tour with one of the experienced reindeer herders at the Cairngorms Reindeer Herd is also a must do. Glenmore Lodge, Scotland's national outdoor training centre, is the perfect place to learn more about your adventure sport of your choice.

Rothiemurchus Farm Shop offers you a wide selection of cheeses and meats. There's also a delicious array of goodies and a sparkling atmosphere with friendly faces to tempt, tantalise and help you choose. Head up the Cairngorm Mountain to the 'Shop at the Top' and the Mountain Shop, which stock a range of individually selected items. They consider the origin, relevance and sustainability of all the merchandise allowing you to make informed decisions about the gifts and memories you take with you. They also have a festive Christmas Market every year.
