The Cairngorms farmers' market is a market in which Cairngorms Park farmers, growers or producers from the Cairngorms Park and adjacent local area are present in person to sell their own produce, direct to the public. All products sold should have been grown, reared, and caught, brewed, pickled, baked, smoked, processed and/or packaged by the stallholder. If you want food as fresh as it can be, visit the Cairngorms Park Farmers' Market. The market takes place in numerous locations throughout the Cairngorms Park on a regular, if not monthly basis. With dozens of specialist producers currently attending the market. |
The majority of Cairngorms Market stallholders are primary producers, growing what they sell. A number offer meat products, including specialities such as wild venison, partridge and pheasant. Organic beef derived from the best of traditional beef cattle, born, bred, and reared naturally on the hill farms of the Cairngorms National Park. Chicken, lamb and cairngorms pork born, reared and/or finished in the Cairngorms National Park are also available. Other types of produce include fish (langoustine, squat lobster & mussels, in season) for the west coast, free-range eggs (including duck eggs), local made cheese such as Cambusomay, seasonal fruit (Alvie) and vegetables, honey and plants. In addition you'll find producers who bake and prepare their own farm products. Guest producers provide specialities including Cairngorms brewery beers & ales, stagg breath liqueurs, artesian breads, luxury chocolates and highland chutneys.
There are also a variety of crafts made locally such as leather goods, pottery, soaps, handcrafted cards, home decorations, jewellery, furniture and decorative items made from wood to name but a few. Locals and visitors to the Cairngorms Park, regularly attend the market as they know they can purchase fresh, quality food. The number of stalls has been increased over the years and new items have been added to the already wide range of produce. The markets have a unique atmosphere helped by events such as music provided by local musicians, annual events such as the World Porridge making competitions, Royal Deeside and Cairngorms venison festival, Highland Games and on occasions children's activities.
